Reverie

When does a dream end and reality begin? Simple logic has conditioned us to easily separate dream from reality: dreams happen while we’re asleep, and reality takes place during our waking hours. I don’t believe it’s that simple. I believe that we are constantly alternating between dream and a perceived reality. This happens physically and psychologically. The dictionary defines reverie as a state of dreamy mediation, deep musing or daydream. This work represents a visual and tangible exploration of this phenomenon. While the photograph is an object and a representation of an actual place or event, the camera becomes a vehicle, transporting the viewer to a realm of imagination. These images are not tied through subject matter, but are bound through enigmatic imagery typical of a dream-state.
